Baptism

'Holy Baptism is the foundation of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons and daughters of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission.'

Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1213

Christian parents have an obligation to ensure that their children are baptised as soon as possible after birth.

If your child is seven years old or more, please contact Fr Michael directly.

For Baptism of an infant to take place, at least one parent must be a practising Catholic, and either resident in the parish of Holy Cross, Parsons Green or regularly attending Sunday Mass in this parish.

Before a child is baptised, Fr Michael would wish to meet parents, for an informal pre-baptism interview. This is an opportunity for Fr Michael and parents to put a date and time in the diary, to answer any questions and to plan the liturgy before the baptism celebration takes place.

To get an application form, please approach Fr Michael after Sunday Mass, or e mail him at michaeldaley@rcdow.org.uk and return the completed form directly to him as soon as possible. Once received, Fr Michael will then contact you to arrange a meeting.

"Go therefore and make disciples
of all nations, baptising them in
the name of the Father and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that
I have commanded you"
(Mt 28:19-20)
